1 lb. confectioners sugar
5 Tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
¼ cup hot milk (or less)
¾ tsp. vanilla
Food coloring (optional)
nuts, chopped (optional)
Place the sugar and butter in a mixing bowl and beat them together with an electric mixer on low speed. Gradually beat in the hot milk, a little at a time, until the frosting is of spreading consistency. Stir in the vanilla and food coloring. Top the frosting with chopped nuts.
For a change, substitute ¼ teaspoon peppermint flavoring for the vanilla when frosting a chocolate cake.
